Team Newton –
Sixth Grade Science Students
For your sixth grade year there will be much to discover and uncover in your science class adventure.
You will begin with the Nature of Science. From day one you will try to figure out – just – what is science? You’ll dabble with skills that scientists use and also tackle the metric system.
Next you zoom with a physical science unit – Forces, Motion, and Energy. Here items will be whirling, speeding, and falling with explorations into Newton’s Three Laws of Motion.
After the flying physical unit, you come back down to Earth with Earth’s Changing Surface. First you will peek inside the earth, and then build up some mountains, become cartographers; finally you’ll unearth that – what goes up – must come down.
The next stop on this sixth grade science trip is a mini unit – Wild Weather. You will be transformed into meteorologists and newscasters as you prepare the audience for approaching storms and enlighten others about weather instruments.
The journey won’t be complete until Plant Power has sprung to life. All sorts of plants will be popping up everywhere. The last hoorah will be the Team Newton Flower Show in June.
So let the sixth grade science quest embark!
